AttendanceAbsence/TardinessOhio Law requires school to be open for 178 days. Regular attendance and punctuality are of prime importance in the learning process. If your child shows signs of illness, it is wise to keep the child home to avoid exposure to other children and eliminate the danger of the child becoming ill in the classroom. If your child will be absent, please note the following:
Note: Students are expected to complete any and all assignments and homework missed when an absence occurs. They will receive one make up day for every day missed. It is the student’s responsibility to request the work missed. Students are considered tardy if they are not in the homeroom by the 8:00 A.M. bell. If a child arrives after the 8:00 A.M bell, he/she must report to the main office. He/she will receive an admittance slip to enter the classroom. Students who arrive late will have been marked absent and this must be changed on the attendance. Continual and habitual unexcused tardies put the student at a severe disadvantage to the learning process. Ten unexcused tardies during a grading period will result in an after school detention. There are times where the tardies will be excused for example; severe weather and a doctor’s appointment. Students are not excused because a family member or other adult drove them to school late. Medical/Dental AppointmentsWe ask that you try to schedule medical appointments around the school hours. However, when there is a need to take your child out of school for an appointment, a note needs to be sent to the school office and to the homeroom teacher. The note should include the time of the appointment and who will be picking up the child. It is also helpful to note if the child will be returning to school after the appointment. VacationsIf you are going to have a planned absence, such has a vacation; parents are asked to notify the teacher and the principal. |
