Parental/Guardian Responsibilities

The primary responsibility for the education of children belongs to the parent/guardian(s). Although this responsibility is shared with the school, the responsibility of the parent/guardian(s) is crucial to the academic and behavioral success of the child. The attitude of each parent/guardian toward sharing this responsibility with the school is important to the child as a person and in the community. Attitudes, formulated at an early age in the home, are more important than ability. The greatest single factor in building a child’s intellectual, moral and cultural attitudes is the example provided in the home. The conscientious parent/guardian will try to plan thoughtfully not only for the child’s first entrance into school life, but also for his/her continued success in school. We encourage parent/guardian(s) to do the following:

  • Build religious celebrations and family prayer into your life style, attend weekend Mass or worship services and encourage stewardship through the celebration of the Sacraments and Church envelopes.
  • Provide proper materials for study, both at home and at school.
  • Be sure your child’s school attire, as established by the school, is complete and kept in good condition.
  • Encourage regular attendance; this instills within the child the importance of his/her presence in school.
  • Always cooperate with the teachers, the staff, and principal. If your child is struggling to learn, investigate all the facts before passing judgment. If you have a complaint, take it up with the school by going through the proper channels, starting with the teacher, then the principal, the board of directors, and finally the Office of Catholic Education.
  • Hold the teacher and the school’s rules and regulations in high regard; your child will act accordingly.
  • Establish good discipline at home. Discipline begins in the home and is only continued at school.
  • Set your standards high and be honest with yourself regarding your child’s potential and expect from him/her only what he/she can give.

Care of Books and School Property

Books are very expensive and each student is responsible for the books they use. Students and parents are financially responsible for the damage or loss of school texts, library books and/or school property.

School Supplies

It is important that your child(ren) has supplies for daily class work. Many of the supplies may be purchased at the discount stores. School supplies need to be replenished as needed.

A class list of supplies is distributed each June for the following year. Copies are also available in the school office.
